Practically Perfectly Pulled Pork (PPPP)

I’ve made a lot of Boston butts over the years and they usually call for sugar, rubs, packaged (expensive) MSG containing spice mixes, sauces, etc. We don’t really eat that way anymore and I don’t have time in this stage of my life for dirtying the smoker THEN the slow cooker to get juicy flavorful meat. As a work at home, homeschooling mom of 3 (and a bonus teen) I need to keep it simple for 90% of our meals. My new favorite way to make pulled pork is so stupid simple, is shocking how great it turns out. It’s important to take notes for this very complicated “recipe”, so grab a pen:

  1. Wash and dry your pork butt. Place it into your slow cooker.

2) Cover with 1/4 Cup of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar.

3) Dice 1/2 sweet onion (this Georgia-born girl likes Vidalia onions best when they are available, but any type will do) and add it to the crock pot.

4) Cover and cook on high for 6 hours and serve with your favorite compliant BBQ sauce. Our favorite pre-made sauce is the Noble Made Mustard BBQ.

We get a lot of our meat from Butcherbox. This Boston Butt specifically. We have been so pleased with the meat quality and its been wonderful for us during Covid, when getting to the farmers market has been difficult and the selection at grocery stores is sometimes spotty. If you haven’t tried them yet, you can get $15 off your first order with this link.

Let me know what you think if you give this hardly-a-recipe, recipe a try. 🙂
